Digital Switchover
This area has finally gone digital.
There is nothing but fuzz and hiss coming out of the TV.
We have no digibox nor satellite set-up.
Now we'll have to make our own entertainment in the evenings.
I wonder how long we'll last...

It's probably going to be hardest on Meg if she has some favorite programs.
The United States of Amer'ca gave me a coupon for $20 (it knows its $$$ priorities) and I threw in another $20 for the digital box--which is still in its packaging.
Monopoly. Playing your musical instruments. Strolling - in the summer evenings. Radio and books. It'll be like the old days:)
If it was me, I'd probably spend a nice day with the family in town, maybe at a shopping centre, go into an appliance store, and camp out in the t.v. section :D
ive not had any telly in my bit for about 7 yrs. i didnt have enough money i the bank for the direct debit one month and they cancelled my license. never bothered me. i listen to music or read or fanny about on the tinternet instead.
Come now, a digital-to-analogue converter can't be that expensive. I picked one out of my teeth just the other day.
It also makes economic sense--you'd be paying a small amount of money to use a TV which cost you 5X more than any digital box would.
Don't be distracted by shadow puppets! Buy the box!
We are a non-cable family and failed to get our box when we had the coupons. We play a lot of board games, card games and rent a lot of DVD's. I do have to say, I know more about what's going on in my kids' lives than I did BEFORE we went cable free!
Was this a deliberate move or did you just forget?
Charlie - Meg's fine. It's actually hardest on Rogan, who thought we were kidding and is more than a bit discgruntled to find we weren't
Pat - we did get a piano a couple of years ago (see Pee-yan-ah) so perhaps it's time to get it tuned so we can all have a sing-song
FLG - I think Rogan will sympathise... or even follow your advice
Barman - I must admit we all spend far more time on the Internet than in front of the TV, that's for sure.
Gyrobo - but we also save something like £150 a year on a TV licence by not updating
Afghan - hmmm...I wonder if that's a good thing...
Daphne - no, it's quite deliberate. We know other people who feel their lives have improved considerably by getting rid of the TV. I don't think we'd have ever managed to do it on our own, but the digital switchover acts as the perfect excuse to try it out. In 2 months we might have caved in a bought a digi-box. Or we might be living the lives of enlightened ones. Watch this space :)
LOL, LOL....I would not last 2 seconds...!
Thanks so much for stopping by from Pat's...I see your name and your face over at her sweet place and I am grateful to her that she "linked" me today so I could come Thank You for my Birthday Wishes!
Welcome to my ramblings, Naomi - I hope you'll find your way back here again :)
