Lace Wedding Anniversary

.
Today Maggie and I celebrate being married for 13 years.

I've written before about how Maggie and I met, and why we decided to wed nearly 5 years later. If you like that kind of romantic gooey stuff, then visit my post Tin Wedding Anniversary.

This year I've dug out our wedding album (basically a few photos taken by my dad and a couple of friends) and put up a picture of a surprisingly young, fresh faced looking couple on their wedding day.

So much seems to have happened since then it feels like several lifetimes ago.

Not to mention hairstyles...

Oh, and might want to fix that link to the Tin Aniversary post. You left out an "l" at the end of html.

Happy anniversary to you. So glad that Mullet Man has morphed into the Bearded One :-) May you have many many more.

Happy Anniversary! It's always neat to look back at where you were and how far you've come together...
congratulations!

Congratulations! Hope you have many, many more :-) Obviously, I don't know you, but from what I read on this blog you sound like a lovely couple.

BTW why is Maggie posing with that man from the WWF? Did Hulk Hogan also attend?

Ducks and runs . . .

Congrats, and lots of them!

...as for that hairdo, words fail me!

FLG - thanks for the tip about the link - all sorted now. As for the hair I console myself with the fact that EVERYONE looks back on their older hairstyles at some point and winces.

Debra - thank you. And Mullet Man just doesn't give off the same air of wisdom, does it?

Jessie - thank you :)

Kate - he was known as "The Lycra Kid". Now that image is firmly embedded, perhaps you'll think twice before making such comments again young lady.

Z - thank you :)

Savannah - thank you :)

Brave Astronaut - thanks :)

Conan - I'll have you know that hairstyle was de rigueur back in the 80s! It's just a shame I was sporting it in 1995...

The hair! The hair! Sadly, these days too many are ending up down the drain.

Congrats on 13!

Congrats, Kim! You both look very happy in the pic.

As to the mullet, I say if it was good enough for Patrick Swayze in the 90's, it's good enough for anyone.

I'm glad I read that and - I know I'm old-fashioned - but I'm glad you married. To me it's the final act of commitment and I have always felt the 'bit of paper ' twaddle is a cop-out. By thirteen years one usually knows whether it's working or not. I think you are both blessed and deserve each other.
And you have grown into your face.

Kim Ayres said...

Archivalist - the less hair, the easier it is to cope with

Tom - we were, and we still are :)

The length of that hair grew and grew and grew until about 3 years later it was down to my arse just before I got it cut to it's current, much shorter, style

Pat - I'm glad we got married too, Pat :) And I'm still trying to decipher exactly what you mean by your last sentence...

Now that's a haircut for wrasslin' alligators.

You do look younger, but you look just like yourselves -- I would never look at that photo and wonder who those people were. Not everyone still has essentially the same face after 13 years.

I think I know what Pat means: your face now fits you better, if that makes any sense at all.

Kim Ayres said...

Bock - ain't it just!

Mary - it's probably the weight loss - less excess face...

Congratulations Kim and Maggie!

That is a fantastic photo! But I won't keep carping on your mullet.

Wishing you many more happy, healthy years together.

It's difficult to explain but it's to do with life and experience and stuff happening and it shows in one's face and your face - with all that, looks more you than the younger one. I'll get my coat:)

Congratulations, did you get yourselves a tablecloth or something? Maggie looks so cute in the photo, and I've always liked men with long hair.

Hi Kim,

Great picture! I sincerely hope that you and Maggie are as happy today as you looked 13 years ago.

I did NOT know that 13 was the Lace Anniversary.

Oh my goodness....look at that mullet....you and Billy Ray Cyrus had it going on!!!!!

Happy Lace Wedding Anniversary.

May you and Maggie enjoy this very special day and may you have many, many more anniversaries together.

You guys look like country singers without all the bling!

Congratulations!

That. is. awesome. We have a new mullet genre, the Kimullet.
Congrats!

Congratulations. I love the picture. You realize that the 80's styles are coming back. You may be able to reprise the mullet, although I do agree that the bearded one sounds more mysterious, wise and exotic. =0)

Sam - thank you :)

Pat - you and Mary have got me thinking. I'm going to have to blog about this

Eryl - no, we just decided to wash the lace curtain. And while I might feel a wee wave of pleasure at your fondness for long hair, I also remember you have a fondness for sleeveless pullovers...

Doug Dog - I didn't know either, but there's this new fangled thing called the Internet I've discovered, and it's amazing just what you can find out with it. If you want to know more about this Internet thingy, I can email you the details.

Tara Marie - thank you :) And thanks for commenting again - I hope life's treating you well

Sayre - dare I mention I cannot cope with country music at all?

Archie - are you trying to tell me you've never had a dodgy haircut? Go on, be a man and post the photos!

Jeanette - hold on to any style for long enough and eventually it comes back round. Unfortunately it hadn't by the mid 90s...

Maggie has a lovely smile.

It's one of the reasons I married her. Well, that and her bramble crumble...
