Class Begins

I was feeling a little nervous; class was about to begin; I looked up from my notes - a new person had materialised at the end of the table and was staring hard at me. “I’ve not paid yet. Should I pay now?” she asked.

“Did you not sign up at the registration process 2 weeks ago?” asked Anne, who’s in charge of evening classes in the area, with a slight air of exasperation.

The woman looked a little confused. “Er… no. Can I join now?”

Anne looked back at me. “I’m ok with that,” I said. There were 12 of us in the small room, but we could accommodate one more without too much of a problem.

“Well, if the tutor’s alright about it, I guess…” began Anne.

Suddenly the woman stood up, stooped slightly, placed the back of her hand to her forehead and said, “Ooh, I don’t feel very well. I think I’ll need to leave.”

Fearing we might end up with our first fatality before the class had even begun, Anne leapt up. “Are you going to be ok getting home?” she asked with concern.

“I’ll be fine,” she replied. “Is it all right if I start next week instead?”

“Sure…”

And suddenly she was off and out of the room with a surprising amount of gusto for a woman on the verge of collapse.

After that, examining notions of time, space and the existence of the universe was a doddle.

Kim,
How many times do I have to remind you to put deodorant on before teaching class. You know how nervouse you get at the start of a new session. You scared that poor little girl away.

Maybe she was just overcome with your animal magnatisim. LOL

Kim! You shock me.

Yes, it did actually happen. I was one of the students on the course so it is all as our professor reported. However, as the first session was on the nature of existence I am already beginning to doubt the empirical basis of all events. So who knows. Maybe this woman was merely a glitch in a Matrix induced reality.

Very strange...maybe she was pining for the fjords.

Oh Kim what did you do to scare her away like that?

How did it go apart from the weird start?

Told you you'd get a quorum. And congrats on your progress up the metals. She might have been the plant for “First Aid 101” and realised her mistake when none of you wanted to bandage her. I think we deserve to know what the first lecture title was.
Oh, DO NOT tell your class about your blog site.
It’s too late isn’t it?
You young bearded fool.

How very strange. I agree with other commenters, it was your amazing charm and magnetism - the poor lass probably needs a week to prepare for it.

Sarah - yes, it actually happened

Quinn - if she does return I'll probably have to delete this post in case she stumbles across it. I have no wish to embarrass her.

BStrong - deoderant is for girls...

Nikki - What's with the LOL?

Mark - you're learning fast!

Freakazojd - Norwegian Blues stun easily, apparently

Stella - Apart from the weird start I think it went well. Of course, I'll only really know if anyone turns up next week.

Pendullum - Fear, anger, lust, admiration - we may never know which one

Dr Maroon - so far only Mark (above) knows of the blog, but that's because I knew him before the class. In fact he's only attending because I threatened to show his wife some photos of him in a compromising position with a duckbilled platypus. I'm not aware that anyone else knows yet, although you only have to type my name into google to find it

Kate - well, I guess that's always possible...

Oh, and the title of the first class was "How can we know what exists?"

Next week it's "What is the self?"

Unknown said...

"How can we know what exists?"

Aha, well in that case, maybe she was worried that she would discover she was a figment of her own imagination LOL

"How can we know what exists?"

Silly question.
If it no exixts, then we no be talking bout it! Everything exists!
Now, defining exactly what everything am... that am the big question.

"What is the self?"

Easy! Self am what lisping person puts they books on.

Life is a funny ol' game, I believe a comedian once said.

Will she come back next week? Keep us updated on the mystery of the mysterious woman at the big mysteries class!

Kim Ayres said...

Kate - or perhaps I'm just a figment of hers...

SafeTinspector - you've lost me - what's it from?

Monstee - I'll be sure to raise that point at the next class!

Branden - as I mentioned earlier, if she does return, I'll have to delete this entry.

How odd. Wonder if she'll come back? LOL

Kim Ayres said...

I'll find out in about 2 and a half hours!

Stella said...

Well Kim, did she show?

Kim Ayres said...

No she didn't. Apparently she's feeling long term ill, so won't be coming along to any of them
