CROWD - an Interactive Photographic Event for Spring Fling
THE CONCEPT
In a fun and experimental event, I am going to attempt to create an interactive, crowded scene, but where each person will be photographed, individually, standing alone in an allotted space.
However, if each person looks as if they are interacting with anyone else – perhaps pulling a face at their neighbour, or waving to someone else across the room – then when I merge all the separate images together afterwards, then it should look like a vibrant, bustling crowded scene that was taken in one shot.
Not until the final image is edited together will anyone know who else will be in the same photo as them. You might discover you are standing next to your best friend, or your mortal enemy. You might find there are friends, neighbours, or even people you went to school with decades ago, are now in the same image.
WHAT TO EXPECT
If you wish to participate, then you will be asked to sign a model-release form to say you are OK about the photo being seen by other people (under 18s will also need the signature of a parent or responsible adult).
And you will be asked for your name and email address so that you can be sent a free digital copy of the final edited image. You will also be given a free postcard, and the option to sign up for a free newsletter.
You will then be given a playing card and asked to go and stand in a corresponding place in the area set aside for the photography (e.g. 3 of clubs, queen of diamonds)
NOTE: Because this is a live, creative process, there can be no absolute guarantees that you (or anyone else) will appear in the final image. However, I will do my best to make sure you are!
BRING AN ITEM
If you wish to bring a personal item with you – for example, a musical instrument, sporting equipment, a well loved book or toy – then please do – it will help to add to the uniqueness of the scene
GALLERY
There will also be a gallery of my photography, and several written stories about the behind-the-scenes aspects of the photos, on the walls in the room.
So if you don’t wish to take part in the photographic event (or you have travelled there with someone else who doesn’t), or you would like to find out more about the kind of work I do, then there will be plenty to look at!
GLUTEN FREE NIBBLES
My daughter, Meg, will be creating some home-baked, gluten-free nibbles for visitors.
Any financial donations collected will be forwarded to support Stepping Stones food bank in Castle Douglas.
