Ultrasound Scan

.
“Is it a boy or a girl?”

“Sigh…”

“I guess everyone says that, eh?”

“Everyone, yes.”

“Can I get a photo of the ultrasound scan to take away with me?”

“Of your liver?”

“Er… yes…”

“Put in one of those cards which has a teddy bear on the front?”

“Well, actually I thought an onion might be more appropriate. You know, liver and onions; classic combination?”

Fortunately it appears the haemochromatosis hasn't done any damage to my liver.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a photo.

Members of the medical profession can be so dismissive can't they? Did it do anything, pulsate for example or did it just sit there in its place, silent and still?

Glad there's no damage, is the blood letting making a difference to you?

Glad to hear there's no damage, mate.

Eryl - I'm afraid the monitor was mostly turned away from me so I didn't get to see much. I'm not aware of the bloodletting making much difference yet, other than giving me brusies on my arms.

FLG - thank you

Debra - not really. It seems the haemochromatosis is unlikely to be the cause of my fatigue.

Conan - you're on my wavelength.

If it helps, I'm sure that its DNA makes it a boy however unrecognizable it is as human. ;-)

You're becoming quite the epicure!

Fairly soon we shall have a photo shot of you spread out on a long table as a banquet for zombies, vampires, cannibals etc. Halloween is coming, perfect timing.

Don't you think Freudian psychoanalysts would have dizzy spells over all the implied meanings in this mental framework of yours?

OMG, that was so funny! If I'd been doing your ultrasound, I would have absolutely given you a shot for your "onion" frame!

Congratulations on the no-damage outcome!

I once wrote a story ( I was 9) with the sentence "the men ran for their livers" 20 years later I bumped into the English master who had scrawled in large red letters LIVES next to it at my brother wedding. The old fool remembered it. Gosh we had a laugh over it! Sorry been a long day.

My youngest gave me a picture of the ultrasound that was taken of his wife's tummy this morning at 9:30. It did come in a little card with a teddy bear on it. And as is the way with all boys, he was proud of his little boy's package. Yes we are going to have a boy grandson in Feb. The other ultra sound of my oldest's wife's tummy showed no package, so I am going to have a girl grandbaby in Feb. also.

By the way, did you say something about a liver?

thats it, i have had with you. the photos of livers are what i turn up here for.

seriuosly though, well done on the good news.

LOL birdwatcher! It sounds like a line taken out of a Silverstein poem.

Good news, indeed, although I'm sure you're getting more frustrated at the lack of a proper diagnosis for your fatigue.

That's good news, toots!

Glad to hear your liver's no wurst.

MaLady - I guess the bodily obsessions are becoming quite frequent. We easily ignore our bodies right up until the point they stop working properly, then we can't think of anything else...

Sayre - :)

Savannah - are they all up on the wall,or kept in a special photo album?

Birdwatcher - it could have been a butcher's race...

Carole - congratulations x 2! I was proud of my boy's package until it was pointed out to me it was just the unbilical cord.

Michael - thank you :)

Archivalist - frustrated for wee bursts at a time, then I get too tired to think about it...

Sam & Pat - I bow to your superior punning skills

But if you got a photo, you might feel inclined to buy a frame. Then maybe you'd have to name it.

Glad to hear there's no damage.

Kim Ayres said...

Actually, if I got a photo of it, I'd probably play around in photoshop and make it look like it had come from "The Matrix"

some radiographers can be a bitch can't they? I would have done a drawing for you at least

Nursemyra - welcome to my ramblings and thank you for taking the time to comment.

I was actually hoping for one of those 3D interactive holograms, but a quick sketch on the back of a beermat would have done
