The Wet Song

.
Courtesy of BBC Weather
It's wet, it's wet
It's very very wet
It's very very very very wet

It's wet, it's wet
It's very very wet
It's very very very very wet

It's wet out here
It's wet out there
It is wet
Everywhere

It's wet, it's wet
It's very very wet
It's very very very very wet

I'm looking forward to the day when global tectonic plate movements have shifted Scotland southwards and we can enjoy a more Mediterranean climate

*(Adapted from The Cold Song - insert cold instead of wet - composed by Father and daughter, Kim and Meg, while trekking back across the beach at Rascarrel Bay one very cold winter's afternoon)

You too huh? Never ending rain forecast for the weekend too. Hard to motivate myself for a run I must say.

Hah, while you're getting all the rain, we're getting the heat and humidity. It's so stifling. I've had serious thoughts about seeing if I could borrow my friends' freezers to make some big blocks of ice and make an igloo. Seriously.

Like thinking how many freezers I'd need, how much water, what I could use for containers, whether to use solid ice blocks or shaved ice turned into ice blocks. I don't think I'd actually be able to bring any plan to fruition, but it's fun to think about :D

Well honey if you get shifted south west to this neck of the woods you are in for a big disappointment. We live on the hill and the water from Exmoor, which is sodden, goes rushing past. Those poor devils who are being flooded for the second time; my heart goes out to them

Looks like Meg and you are stuck with your coloring books and crayons for the weekend.

And about the tectonic plate. We had one, but I broke it a long time ago.

I'm singing the original version of that song this weekend. That's Fahrenheit, mind you.

(I forgot to mention on my site that I went to see Motorhead in concert at the Mad Monk Club in Wilmington, NC back in 1991, but only because a girl I liked was going to be there. Also a big AC/DC fan, just not Ian's taste quite yet.) :)

Kim

I think by the time there is a climate shift that allows Greece type weather in Scotland you and I will both be just huge, amazing, wonderfully brilliant memories.

Peace

So you've got the water and we have the deep freeze, now how to get that igloo to FLG....

I, too, am looking forward to global tectonic plate movements or global warming or SOMETHING, please! I'm singing the Cold Song.

Eryl - As you live only 40 miles from here, I'm not surprised :)

FMC - well it does take a lot of rain to ensure your emerald isle stays so green

FLG - You'd have to be careful though - if your blocks of ice were clear you could essentially end up making an igloo greenhouse...

Pat - mine too

Charlie - that's bad. And I bet you're going to tell me now it wasn't insured either...

Tom - fair enough - cold here is defined as -3 to +5 Celsius and a bit of a wind. Invariably you just don't wrap up quite well enough, so get chilled. Given the number of North American and Canadian visitors I thought I'd stick to The Wet Song rather than The Cold Song for the blog

Jeff - then we'd better make a start on doing something worth being remembered for...

MaLady - in the spirit of global cooperpation :)

Canadian Girl - you could always move to Vancouver...

It's even rained in East Angular, which is a rarity. Dry this morning, though.

Um, it's even raining in South Florida this morning.

Gotcha. Well, I live in a mediterranean climate and I can tell you it has its drawbacks.

No water.
Okay, so we pipe it in from Colorado and Northern California. But we don't have the green-green-green you have, which to me... sound beautiful.

I'm with Kanani. We're Californians: we know what we're talking about when we say that hot and dry aren't always so great. And since I've got a whole kitchen full of wet laundry right now, I think I speak from your perspective too. Trust me: even with all the wet clothes, this side is better.

Z - If it rains too much there then flooding would be rife - there's nowhere for it to drain off

Restaurant Gal - warm rain isn't so bad though :)

Kanani and Mary - You Californians and your yearning for cold wet and miserable...

Maybe if I'd grown up in the desert I'd understand, but a lifetime of being rained on just leave me craving sun and a warmer climate

This really made me laugh because it sounds like something my husband would say. :)
We're enjoying cold weather with bitter wind. Boo.

Excellent post. Lyrically sound. With just enough sentiment to not be maudlin.
