The Self Aware Universe

.

The atoms that make up every single part of our brains and bodies were created in the centres of stars billions of years ago. Each person may well be a unique configuration of those atoms, but these building blocks are older than the Earth itself.

As has been said, we are stardust.

But we are conscious stardust. Unlike the chair we are sitting on, we are aware of our surroundings and are capable of thinking about, reflecting upon and learning about the universe in which we exist.

We are the consciousness of the universe. We are the universe discovering itself.

We are not separate from it. We are it.

And if we look with powerful telescopes and understanding, we find in every direction the universe is expanding away from us. This means we are the centre of the universe.

But so is everyone and everything.

We are a unique collection of mindbogglingly ancient particles that have become self aware.

But most of the time we just get annoyed with people on the telly...

Thanks for reminding me that I AM one with the creative force of the universe. I think I need to watch this wonderful little video every day and watch the telly a lot less, my wise friend.

Jayne - This post was up for less than 8 minutes and you leapt in with the first comment. Impressive :)

A little more contemplation of the infinite and a little less righteous indignation and I'm sure the world would be a more laid back place.

But it's much easier said than done, which is why I watch very little telly

I like the idea of being made of stardust. Nice.
Thank you for my bedtime story Daddy:)
WV going - and I'm off to ma baid.

We seem to be on the same wave length as well today...I just posted about how strangers can aid each other.

Guess if we're all made of the same stuff, we're not really strangers after all, huh? :)

To get even more mindbloggling it's my understanding these atoms that make up us, float around and can become part of another body. By the way this would be my kind of TV program...if I watched TV.

Do you know pal, that you have the most calming voice? :¬)

Good post.

What telly are you watching, Kim? You don't get Fox 'News' over there do you? Oh, what a give-a-way.

Great to hear your voice again, Kim

We are million year old carbon.

I wish I was clever enough to write like that. At least I can appreciate it. That counts for something.

Sounds like you don't subscribe to the King James bible version of the beginning of the human race. Aren't you afraid you'll go to hell? Just asking. I don't believe it either.

Fantastic! I'm with Pat... I like that I am stardust. Thanks for a really cool post, Kim. :-)

You've caught my way of thinking here - old hippy that I am. Currently wandering my way through a book of Zen at the mo, so I can slot that kind of thought in there too. In the mean time...I've got to get myself back to the garden.

Hi Kim,
…we are the centre of the universe. Too often people misinterpret this to mean I am the only person that really matters in this world.

Wonderful thought provoking post…

Your voice is so...beautiful...!
and with thoughts like this, and a voice like this...can't say I am not jealous of you...

As for the post, it's awesome...

And one more thing Kim, ever wonder that the air I am breathing might contain some gases which you must have inhaled and exhaled some years ago...?? And vice versa...
So, I guess we both have a part of each other now..and of everyone else...:)

While I might disagree with your premise I love the fact that you can say mindbogglingly without stumbling.

And your voice is such a good voice. Perhaps it is made of stardust. My voice--sharp edged gravel.

Some of us are obviously more golden that others, right? And the telly isn't golden at all!

How could I have missed this?
Well, anyway, so glad to have read, seen and heard it now. "We are stardust, we are golden, and we've got to get ourselves back to the garden."

Pat - Always happy to read a bedtime story for those who enjoy it :)

Hope - although that same reasoning means I'll probably feel an extra twang of guilt next time I swat a fly...

Allen - when I was a kid my dad would let me stay up to watch science programmes on TV with him. I always loved the ones about light, time, stars and the universe.

Mapstew - my wife will often nod off if I talk for a while. She swears it's my soothing voice and not because I'm boring...

Alan - most telly is annoying apart from a few good documentaries and nature programmes :)

UB - first we need to understand, then we find ways to communicate what we understand

Ron - the science that tells us the universe is billions of years old rather than 6,000 is the same science that allows us to send satellites into orbit and give us mobile phones, GPS and the Internet. I find it easier to have faith in the scientific approach, but each to their own :)

Ponita - thank you :)

Sandy - it is very Zen, isn't it?

Jacqui - :)

Litzi - which is why I added the line "But so is everyone and everything" :)

Se2 - well if you're in the same room as someone else who farts, then it's highly likely :)

Space Lady - thank you for your thank you :)

Carole - I deeply appreciate that you still listen and respond, when I know how fundamentally you disagree with my premise :)

Mary - telly seems to be all sequins and fake tans these days - primarily because Meg is always watching "Strictly Come Dancing"

Debra - glad you found it :)

So this brings me to another question, that I wonder if you have a wee bit of advice for me. I was with some friends last night and one was saying how whe was detoxifying her body because her doctor wants to know what she is allergic to. In order to do that, she needs to clean out the toxins and start fresh. She has quite a regimen to go through before she starts adding in food, bit by bit.

I know...it takes me forever to get to the point. I believe my mind was filled with so many toxins, religious and otherwise, that I believe to really live and breathe a new narrative I need to rid my mind of the toxins so prevalent, yet that I am still unaware of.

So a post on detoxifying the brain would be spendid.

Detoxing the brain?

That's going to require some thought. I'll see what I can do, but if I don't mention it for a while, then give me a nudge :)
