A hot beverage

.
Maggie’s exhibition is in the gallery across the road from us.

Mid morning I take a coffee across to her

Lunchtime I take her a cup of tea

Mid afternoon I take her another coffee.

When the workmen are mowing the grass outside the library, they look at the mugs longingly.

If there are any visitors in the gallery when I arrive, there’s a brief moment of expectation they might be offered a mug.

If any visitors arrive just after me, their nostrils flare slightly and they glance around, wondering if a pot might be on.

In the cold damp weather of recent days, forget the art – we’d have made a fortune if we’d opened a café instead.

You are such a great husband! I'm sure she appreciates the coffee...maybe add a stand outside?

Oh, and how about signing up for the Traveling Afghan Project?? Yes, I am stalking you!!!

I would like a hot chocolate if you please, but... Oh forget it. It is a sunshiney 78 degrees here. I have a lot of blog reading to do in between babysitting the grandkids.

Hmmmm.. I smell a business opportunity, as well as the coffee.

You should ensure the aroma of fresh brewed coffee is ever present, then offer a free cup with every purchase of Maggie's work.

Not forgetting Rogan's cakes. How about it?
Hope the show is going well.

Hot milk, no sugar, please. Seriously, good luck with the exhibition.

DLT Ferrets - ok, ok, you've (s)talked me into it - add me to your list and/or zap me an email :)

Carole - stick the kids in front of the PlayStation with some super-graphic ultra-violent game on and they'll give you peace for hours...

Jimmy - I've told Maggie before she'd make a fortune if she ever opened a place called "Maggie's Munchies" and sold her home baking, home made soup, and good quality coffee. But she'd rather be an artist.

Eryl - now there's and idea! Btw - are you going to get the chance to pop across to CD? I can make you an espresso :)

Pat - in a little over 3 weeks, Castle Douglas has its "Food Town Day" where they close the high street. Rogan had a stall last year and sold out, so he'll be making preparations soon :)

Leigh - I can supply you with the no sugar, but you might have to bring the hot milk with you...

I like Eryl's idea! I say you breeze in there with high quality French roast and a coffee maker and give this a shot sometime... And maybe a raffle of one of Rogan's cakes? I'd be game...

We've often thought of using part of our studio/gallery for a coffee shop: good coffees and teas, fine pastries and good art.

Aww, how very sweet. Can you add a cafe to the gallery? That would get you the best of both worlds. And the wonderful cafe aromas might make folks more likely to buy the beautiful works in the gallery?

Kim Ayres said...

Mary - if only we'd been organised enough before...

Debra - unfortunately, cafes never sell artwork. People go there to enjoy the surrounds, but never buy stuff on the walls.

LegalMist - unfortunately, there isn't a set up at this gallery to get a cafe going

Loved, loved, loved, Maggie's work today, she has come on so strongly. Hope she enjoyed her cake this evening, she totally deserved it. Also hope I wasn't too odd, I am aware I talk bollocks most of the time, I just can't seem to stop myself. Thanks for the coffee.

I had a show last weekend, and I hung out at it most of the time. Somebody brought me tea. It was raining at the time, as it was most of the weekend.

At moments like that I like the human condition.

So I know where to come now, when I want a cup of coffee!

Savannah - if only I had an income to match...

Eryl - thank you so much for your positive comments about the exhibition.

It was lovely to see you and great to catch up over coffee. And how could I possibly think of you as too odd? I was on exactly the same wavelength and thoroughly enjoyed our conversations :)

Savannah - that's so sweet, thank you :) You're a wonder among bloggers :)

Eolaí - ah, the human condition - people willeither kill you, or bring you a nice cup of tea. Where would we be without people? Eh? Warless, yes, but also tealess...

SarahA - welcome to my Ramblings and thank you for taking the time to comment. And yes, you're more than welcome to call round for a coffee :)
