It's freezing here too!
ReplyDeleteRain and more rain here. I have never seen it rain for two days without end here. I know, how terrible I can't run along the beach today. But, well, just trying to relate ;)
ReplyDeleteNot to brag, but I'm toasty warm here. 85 degrees and sunshiney.
ReplyDeleteWhen my MIL was visiting, she kept trying to take her sweater when we left the house in the evening. I'd say, "Remember how it was 90 degrees this afternoon? It's 85 now." You Scots are so funny with your cold. (Now you know why I only visit in the winter when it's supposed to be freezing!)
ReplyDeleteI was having lunch with several friends today - two of them confessed to having put the heating on in the last week, and another said she wouldn't let her husband do it and made him put on a sweater. I was open-mouthed.
ReplyDeleteAmy - I know your winters are much colder than ours, but I thought your summers were warmer
ReplyDeleteRG - I'm not accepting any empathy messages from people living in Florida. Or California for that matter
Carole - not to brag BUT...
Anna - if you've ever lived in Scotland you never go anywhere without an extra sweater
Z - Open mouthed because he wanted the heating on, or because she made him wear a sweater?
Because people actually did put the heating on. One of the party is about 85 and not in good health, so I'll excuse her, just about, but not the others. I said, truthfully, that in the winter I have a shawl in my study (which has a radiator I choose not to put on) to wrap around me and if my hands get cold I light a candle.
ReplyDeleteBlimey, darling, you've got a beastly word verification. I suspect this will take a go or two to post.
I was right, didn't accept my pitiful effort.
I have never knowingly turned the heating off since I've lived in Scotland. If the house gets below a certain temperature the thermostat then causes it to kick in. And I live in jumpers too.
ReplyDeletesouthern softies
ReplyDeleteIt was 45 F here in NE Ohio last night.
ReplyDeleteBetter than the 95 F + humidity of a week ago :-)
Kim
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the snowy winters of Indiana. But after my 4 years in the UK I has to move to Florida for 3 years to warm up.
Stay warm brother.
Peace
I won't put the heating back on. Wild horses couldn't drag me to it. If the kids so much as touch that thermostat, they'll be sorry!
ReplyDeleteHowever, I cheat. I have a tiny space heater under my computer table, and when it really starts to get frigid and my lap rug just doesn't cut it, I give in for about five minutes. The kids huddle around me; it's really sweet.
It's been a big damp here over the last few days, rain-tacular. But not cold. ANd I can cope wiht the rain if it's not cold too.
ReplyDeleteWe are actually enjoying several temperate days here in DC. It's been wonderful with the windows open and the A/C off.
ReplyDeleteBut you be careful now, summer colds are the worst.
Aaaaarh! I'm with the good Dr. The shorts and sandals are on til October.
ReplyDeleteIt's freezing here as well. Although it is the right time of year for it over here.
ReplyDeleteZ - As someone who lives 300 miles closer to the equator than I do...
ReplyDeleteEryl - I still haven't been round to your house yet. Sounds toasty :)
Dr Maroon - not all of us have antifreeze in our blood
Debra - that's not an unusual nighttime temperature here, but I don't think we ever get anything as high as 95F
Jeff - :)
Mary - I'll make sure I bring an extra fleece when I next visit
FMC - you're an Oirish lass - of course you can cope with the rain!
Brave Astronaut - I don't know about summer colds, but I think my hay fever is beginning to kick in...
Conan - There's no doubt about it I was bred for warmer climes. When I was a child, dahn sarf, spring began in February rather than May; autumn began in late October rather than mid August; and I spent the summer swimming in the sea and getting sunburned rather than wrapped in several layers drinking hot chocolate from a flask at the beach.
FLG> - I knew it was just a matter of time before someone in the Southern Hemisphere challenged me...
Wot? You sayin' I'm cold like?
ReplyDeleteNot at all. Just makig an observance that certain alcohol based substances lower the freezing temperature of water based products, like blood for example...
ReplyDeleteI'll trade you some my death-star sun rays for some of your cold weather breezes. Deal?
ReplyDeleteguess i'd better not mention the temps here(93) and the rain...nothing like hot and humid..or as the doc said steamy weather to keep you inside. . .or on the screened in backporch.
ReplyDeleteUbergeek & Savannah - I'm afraid no one will win my sympathies with warm sunny weather.
ReplyDeletebut it's raining, basil...raining! ;-) xoxxoxo
ReplyDeleteDisgustingly hot here.
ReplyDeleteFor the love of God, put a jumper on and write something for us.
ReplyDeletePreferably funny.
You dragged me back, now get on with it, there's a good fellow.
Savannah - but warm rain - I've never experienced warm rain
ReplyDeleteKanani - pah
Dr Maroon - Dr Impatient, methinks
