Maggie Ayres - An Exhibition of Textile and Mixed Media Art
From this Saturday until next Maggie has her first solo exhibition, entitled "Beginnings", in the Castle Douglas Art Gallery. She's been working like mad finishing her pieces of art while I've been keeping the kids out of her way as much as possible and helping her to create and print posters, postcards and update her website (http://www.maggieayres.co.uk/beginnings.htm).
In fact, if anyone wants to print out a poster and advertise the event in their workplace or window, then you can download a PDF version by right clicking an selecting "Save As" on this link Beginnings Poster. OK, most of you will be too far away for your advertising to make much difference, but you never know. And if you are local(ish), do come along and tell your friends.

Her art work is uniquely interesting. I love her color choices and enjoyed looking through her website. May she have a great showing and sell every piece. And yes, her voice is great. You and her are the all time great voice couple.

Those are beautiful. I always look at that kind of textile art and wonder: "How do they do that?"

I'll try to come (probably towards the end of next week) and bring my friend, Dina, who is also a textile artist. Maggie's work looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteI bet you'll both be glad when the exhibit is over, though -- I can remember how exhausting exhibits were back when I was an art student.
Remember, the more you charge, the less likely anyone will question it.

Dr Maroon - I did try talking Maggie into adding an extra zero on to the prices, but she wasn't having it.

So I came yesterday to see Maggie's work and didn't ask her to call you. Sorry, I was in a red wine induced fug and not thinking straight. I shouldn't have been out really. Maybe I'll come back later in the week.

I highly endorse a trip to the states starting with St. Louis, Missouri. There is a place to stay and free food. :-) Plus think about this..the kids would love the zoo and Grant's farm and you would love the Budweiser brewery and free beer!!!
