Maggie Ayres - An Exhibition of Textile and Mixed Media Art

From this Saturday until next Maggie has her first solo exhibition, entitled "Beginnings", in the Castle Douglas Art Gallery. She's been working like mad finishing her pieces of art while I've been keeping the kids out of her way as much as possible and helping her to create and print posters, postcards and update her website (http://www.maggieayres.co.uk/beginnings.htm).

In fact, if anyone wants to print out a poster and advertise the event in their workplace or window, then you can download a PDF version by right clicking an selecting "Save As" on this link Beginnings Poster. OK, most of you will be too far away for your advertising to make much difference, but you never know. And if you are local(ish), do come along and tell your friends.

Andraste - Thanks :) I love Maggie's voice - a soft Scottish accent is so pleasant on the ear

    Sarah - thank you, I have :)

Jennifer - don't let several thousand miles stand in your way - leap on a plane and you coud be here by Monday :)

Eryl - you're a star! If you make it over, let Maggie know and I'll pop across to say hello. Fortunately the gallery is really close to our house :)

Pat - Thank you :) Maggie's a lot less sure of her voice than I am - she's not used to hearing it recorded.

  13. I'll try to come (probably towards the end of next week) and bring my friend, Dina, who is also a textile artist. Maggie's work looks lovely.

I bet you'll both be glad when the exhibit is over, though -- I can remember how exhausting exhibits were back when I was an art student.

  14. Remember, the more you charge, the less likely anyone will question it.
    Good sales point there.

    Bon chance mon ami.

  17. Dr McCrumble - as excuses go, it's a pretty good one :)

Mary - do let me know, and say to Maggie to give me a call to come across. It seems I missed Eryl yesterday. Considering I live only a stone's throw from the gallery, that was criminal.

Dr Maroon - I did try talking Maggie into adding an extra zero on to the prices, but she wasn't having it.

Jen - it does look great now it's all up. She'll be having another exhibition at the end of November if you want to rearrange your family's holidays... ;)

Savannah - thank you! It's on all week, apart from today (Sunday)

  18. So I came yesterday to see Maggie's work and didn't ask her to call you. Sorry, I was in a red wine induced fug and not thinking straight. I shouldn't have been out really. Maybe I'll come back later in the week.

I loved 'Forest' and may have to come back for it. Though ideally I'd like a giant version. Also loved your story of the bandaged woman. What a team you are!

  19. I highly endorse a trip to the states starting with St. Louis, Missouri. There is a place to stay and free food. :-) Plus think about this..the kids would love the zoo and Grant's farm and you would love the Budweiser brewery and free beer!!!

  20. Eryl - I hope you can come back later in the week. This time I'll make sure you get a cup of coffee :)

Carole - Free food and beer? You make a persuasive case...
