That's life, innit...

.
Life is a roller coaster of ups and downs.

Or maybe it’s like a swim in the sea where there are beautiful fish and man-eating sharks; colourful corals and deadly jellyfish; calm waters and treacherous whirlpools.

Or perhaps it’s more like a dodgy minestrone soup with tasty bits, and chewy bits you wish you hadn’t discovered.

Simultaneously there are wonderful things and really bloody awful things going on in our lives.

But then, isn’t that always the case?

  1. Life is akin to a deep fried Mars bar. It is good in places, sometimes sticky, sometimes not. You always bite off more than you can chew, and it can often be hard to swallow.

Eventually it will kill you in the end, but the overall feeling is one of satisfaction and fulfillment.

  2. Jimmy does have a touch of the poet about him. Sorta.

Hmmm Kim, I'm detecting a theme here.
Don’t you think we are dreadfully spoiled, such that discomfort or deferment of reward seems intolerable? Difficulties become hopeless tasks because we are unwilling to split them into bits. No? I’ll get me coat.

Mapstew - more or less, a bit of both, or thereabouts

Pat - amazingly I've lived in Scotland for over 21 years and yet I've never tried one. Haggis, single malt whisky, porridge and even shortbread, but never a deep fried mars bar. And yet, every time I hear the bagpipes I feel thougts turning to one...

Eryl - every day I wake up and thank the lord I no longer have to change nappies

  10. Yep. I guess if everything was always good, we wouldn't appreciate it as much. But lately I wish the "bloody awful" bits weren't so freaking awful.

  13. to me, life means the constant survival of backstabbing and double standards, the gossip and the jealousy, simmering hatred and envy. its not a pretty word

  14. I used to dread the "other shoe" dropping. The dread colored all the good that was happening around me. I finally accepted rather than dreaded the shoe drops. It makes the good stuff so much better, and it takes the power away from the shoe drop. I'm glad I chose this post to re-visit your wonderful blog. :)
