Now this is what Mel Gibson should have used in Braveheart.

Sod all that "You can take our lives, but you will never take our freedom!" bollocks, this is much more inspirational.

It would be even better if, rather than saying it to the whole group, he went round to each soldier individually, saying it whilst pinching their cheeks (face).

Stirring stuff matey.

Lovely, Kim, absolutely lovely.

The audio is even better, if that is possible. I think this is going to be one of those things that trickles around cyberspace, touching people in ways you can't even imagine, Kim. And perhaps doing something really, really important like saving a life because it hits someone at just the right time. We're starved for blessings in our lives and you've put a real beaut of one out here. Thank you.

OMG. That accent.

Are you very sure you are happily married?

Oops, there's my dark side showing.

Very sweet. Thanks for the audio.

Kim, that's wonderful. You have a very gentle story teller's voice. I'm sure you could have all sorts of woodland creatures and small children nesting round your feet entranced with fairy tales. Lovely. Thank you.

Its so true and I felt like it was just for me.

Very powerful words that I'd love to post on my blog and move someone else to believe in the real person hiding inside.

Dan's comment made me seriously giggle.

Can I put this on my blog if I give you credit for it?

The pre-birthday gift was wonderful...the after birthday gift was extraordinary! {Jan. 15th, being the actual day}

I've just finished my afternoon commutes from work listening to Craig Ferguson reading his book, "American on Purpose".

Craig has finished reading. I think he should be replaced by you. :)

Have a great weekend!

Dan - unfortunately, if he'd said it in my Southern English accent, he'd have been butchered on the spot by his on side...

Debra - thank you :)

Tiffin - there are no grand schemes for this. I'm not thinking big - I'm thinking individual. This is for you :)

Thingy - you must be American or Canadian - the only ones who find an Englsh accent sexy. Not even other English people find an English accent sexy. My wife, however, has a soft Scottish accent and that's very sexy :)

V - there have been times when my beard has got out of control and I've half expected to find woodland creatures or small children nesting in it...

Gillian - I'm pleased you like it and thank you for the link :)

Pollinatrix - of course you can. And Dan is very good at writing comments to make us giggle :)

Hope - Hope you had a great birthday :)

What a great idea Kim and I'm glad you've put it on story tellers blog so one can access it at anytime.
I don't need a bed-time story tonight. Thank you;)

After midnight? You're up late, Pat.

Fay Campbell said...

Oh, mymymymy. Seriously, that message with that accent.
Come on over here, mama needs a salt lick.

Yes gorgeous voice Kim! Even though I can only listen to it in staccato.

I beg to differ about the only people who find English accents sexy though, but Australia accents? (I am an unfortunate victim) No one finds them sexy! Do they? Geeeeze maaaate!

thanks I really needed to hear this. I'm going back to school at 41 and sometimes it's so overwhelming that this is something that I need to remember. So thank you for your words. You don't know me, but thank you. I plan on keeping it and listening to it over and over again to remind myself that I *AM* somebody!

Entrepreneur Chick said...

My goodness. You have a radio voice if I've ever heard one.

I own two entertainment companies so I sorta know what I'm talking about. You are SO hired. :)

Woody Allen also said, "Eighty percent of life is just showing up." And, "What do years matter if one's apartment is rent controlled?" I've always like those two quotes.

Kim Ayres said...

Fay - that's a phrase I've not hear before... and I'm not entirely sure how to respond...

Katie - but I have the voice of a "bloody pommy bastard," as I think the phrase goes...

Lynne - of course you are somebody - and to some you are an extremely important somebody :)

Entrepreneur Chick - great quotes! And I'm up for doing voice-overs if you want. I can record here, save as mp3 files and email over (or you can fly me to the US, of course) :)

Really beautiful. You have the most soothing voice ever. I wanted to curl up with my noo-noo. (That's a blanket. Just in case you weren't sure.) Could I post this on my blog? I'd love to write a piece about your blog and include this as an embedded piece. If you have an html code to do that, that would be great? If not, no worries, I can link to this page. You are truly a lovely man, Kim. I'm very glad I found your blog.

Aah Bearded One - I guess you must have realised that I didn't take over the world. Couldn't be bothered. But today is a whole new year of homeschooling (read doubts and fears etc) for me and my children so I thought I'd start the day with a bit of positivity - hence coming to "read" your post again. Soooooo much nicer having it read to me!!! Think I'll be back to hear it again tomorrow. (Has nothing to do with the fact I find your accent just a little bit yummy.....)

Pat said...

I try to be in bed by midnight but find myself popping in on a few pals.

Kim Ayres said...

Mimi & Tilly - of course you can - if you want an embeddable code, follow this link

Helen - but aren't you another one for whom my accent is just that of a "bloody pommy bastard"...?

Kim Ayres said...

Pat - missed you in the ether there, but it's always lovely to see you before bedtime :)

Fay Campbell said...

I meant it as a compliment, albeit a totally inappropriate one. Sorry.

Kim Ayres said...

Don't apologise, Fay - it put a smile on my face :)

Katie Roberts said...

No its 'bloody whingeing pom' that I am familiar with, and you dont sound like too much of a whinger (complainer)... well recently anyway! :)

Just me being cheeky! (perhaps I am obnoxious Aussie after all) Still love your soft English tones. It must be all that 'culturedness' we're so attracted to Kim, you know maybe you've found the only aspiring Australians here?

Mimi and Tilly said...

Hi Kim, thanks for the link to the embedded code for your recording. I've written the blog post and included some thoughts on the comment you left on my last post, as it really got me thinking. I hope that's ok. Emma
