omg I have had days like that !!
I think you guys need a pajama day. a day when you take any possibility of feeling guilt over not getting things done away...you give yourselves permission to just be lazy to stay in jammies all day or the sence of that..do nothing day eat when you like , what you like, nap if you like when you like, read a book , play on computer, sit in a tub ..do nothing literally but with not an ounce of guilt over it.

you dont do anything that day that has a specific purpose you just do or dont do what you like.
its not something we can do all the time but every so often it is just amazing how it recharges your battery.

its very stress relieving.

lemme know if you give it a go and how it felt.

Short.. sharp.. concise. I admire that in a woman.

Hey, me too! I haven't done any work today besides making breakfast and dinner, doing the dishes and washing a load of laundry -- thus, a total nothing day for me. And yet I might as well have rolled a boulder up a mountain given the way I feel.

Love the idea of a pajama day!

Doing nothing can be hard, especially if you are a creature of routine. There's nothing to tick off the list. When in doubt there's always the ironing.
Come to think of it. I've been out to lunch and done bugger all.
And to hell with the ironing.

That is my stock answer to the Honeydew list.

Tomorrow will be my day. today I went to the studio. A stay at home in my sweats and read kind of day is in order.

KarateMom - that's exactly what the kids did all day

Jimmy - aye, she's a guid wumman, as only a guid wumman can be :)

Mary - why not introduce your new staff colleagues to the idea of a Pajama party?

Pat - ironing is a last resort in this house. If stuff is folded properly then 9/10 times you can get away with it. And the other 1/10 times, well, it's not the end of the world having a creased shirt...

Savannah - look forward to seeing it :)

Charlie - you've lost me - what's a honeydew list?

Debra - maybe when the kids leave home...

Sarah - story of my life

I know exactly how she feels. What happened to the days when weekends were meant for doing nothing, were they a figment of my youthful imagination?

#1 daughter is in NYC; #2 is working; lovely husband of many years is out. Just me, my thoughts, the rain and 3 muddy dogs.

Yeah, I hate days like that.

From context clues, I'll have to guess that bugger means nothing. I thought it meant something else.

Creased shirt? OK I'll just adjust my expectations:)

Kim Ayres said...

Anon - aha, thank you :)

Eryl - it was before we got had kids and got married. Or the other way round, in some cases.

Debra - sounds like bliss, except for the missing partner, the rain and the 3 muddy dogs

Attila - they come too often

Carole - you're right, bugger does mean something else. It can also be a mild curse, like damn, or bollocks (which also means something else), but when you combine it with "all", it means "nothing"

Pat - it has to be a truly special occasion, or a situation where I might make money, before I'll seriously consider ironing a shirt.

I always think it would be nice to do nothing and be lazy, but I always feel really guilty. Even if James took the kids away for the day, I always have to clean the entire house so it looks like I'v done something! I like having a routine, but it would be great to relax once in a while.
As I am consantly reminded, I dont have a 'job', so apparently I have all the time in the world to relax!

(I understand that mum must have worked extremely hard to bring us up and I know it can't have been easy, so lots of respect to her!)

She's a brilliant mum.

Miss Blue Sky - how odd to say you don't have a 'job'? You have one of the hardest, most important jobs in the world. And you're damn good at it too :)

Do you think I'd have ever got away with saying to your Mum she all the time in the world to relax?
