He’s at it again...

.
The way to not only lose 100lbs, but keep it off too, is to define yourself as a healthy eater, not as a dieter.

Unfortunately my son, Rogan, of These are not just cakes... is preparing for the Galloway Children’s Fayre in Kirkcudbright this Sunday, where he has booked a stall.

He will be selling his home baked scones, cookies and slices of cake.

His mother is capable of creating the finest home baked scones, cookies and cakes you are ever likely to taste. Rogan is capitalising on his inheritance of genetics and upbringing to produce mouth-watering delights of his own.

Every day this week the house has been full of aromas to make a healthy eater weep.

Meanwhile, in an attempt to avoid chewing my own tongue off, I’ve been erecting a gazebo* in the garden. We thought we’d better buy one in case there are showers (a highly likely event in Scotland) on Sunday, so Rogan wouldn’t have to worry about selling slices of soggy cake.

Another amazing fact of the universe I’ve discovered is the cheapest gazebos have the most pieces and least comprehensible assembly instructions.

Glad I live here in Canada... as I fear I would be hanging out under the gazebo, and gaining your lost hundred pounds....
So, just as well...
I am wishing Rogan the best...
And may his father survive building the gazebo...
; )

I'm sure he'll sell out easily!

Speaking of deer-like animals from the African plains, we'll be playing the Springboks today. I know that holds no interest for you, but oh well :D

It's true enough, I have a really good snap of one at a waterhole in Namibia. They are the only carnivore antelope of the Kalihari. As for the baked goods side of things i cannot say.
I am not alowed carbs on account of my type 2 diabetis. The last time I had a cake I wrecked the organic produce aisle in Sainsburys.

Pendullum - I've realised the trick is to build the roof first, that way it doesn't matter if it rains

FLG - we're hoping it doesn't pour down with rain. Light showers are fine, and typical Scottish Summer weather, but downpours will keep people away.

And you're right I have no idea about Springboks

Dr Maroon - is that the kind you have to have jabs for, or is it controllable by avoiding cakes and alcohol?

Why do you always twist things to include my drinking? They're not poisonous for Christssakes, they're just antelopes.
BTW, what are the bamboo chronicles when they're at home?

Kim Ayres said...

Avoid the question by attacking the questioner. Classic denial, Doc.

The bamboo chronicles were a response to the rise in blogs being written by pets. I felt the office plant was well underrepresented in the world of blog, so set it up with it's own space. Bit of a grumpy bastard though - from high idealism to wretched cynicism in just a few short months. Now it's in a long term sulk. It's not dead, but it's refusing to grow.

mmm I wonder if I start baking lots of goodies, my hubby would go out and build me a gazebo????????

Pictures please? I'd love to see the gazebo.
Rogan's cakes are wonderful, and I'm so impressed with his determination! This is all great experience for him --no doubt, he'll learn a lot about business and money. It's a great age for him to get these lessons!

Kim Ayres said...

Amy - well this one is like a cheap tent with no walls and cost about $20

Kanani - I'm hoping to get a few photos of him today. Let's hope the weather holds out.

I found Rogan under the gazelle as predicted and much enjoyed a slice of chocolate cake (the last slice) and I still have a bag of cookies for later.

I should also point out a piece of fine mandolin playing.

Sandy - the mandolin playing left much to be desired. As soon as I started I realised my hands were cold and that was possibly one of the worst attempts at that piece in a long time.

Meanwhile, thank you for your support. I enjoyed a slice of that chocolate cake too, and he made sure I paid full price. No family discount. Pah.

I feel like a time traveler as I've seen the gazebo in the subjective future of this post and know how well it worked out for you and yours.

Savannah - If you can get to Glasgow, Mary and Eryl are about an hour south, and I'm about 2 hours.

SafeT - Now if you could just travel back and post this comment on the 5th or early 6th of June, I could do with the reassurance
